Ruby Tea is one of Taiwan’s most celebrated teas, known for its depth, complexity, and refined character. Developed through decades of cultivation, it represents a unique balance between strength and elegance, combining richness with natural sweetness.
This tea is the result of crossing a wild Taiwanese tea variety with Assam, creating a distinctive profile that sets it apart from traditional black teas. In Chinese classification it is considered a “red tea,” while in Western terminology it belongs to the black tea category.
Grown in Taiwan in the Yuchi region at elevations of around 700 metres, this tea benefits from a stable mountain climate, fertile soil, and careful cultivation practices. The leaves are hand-picked and processed using traditional methods, preserving their structure and allowing the tea to develop its full aromatic potential.
The taste is smooth and layered, with notes of dark chocolate, soft floral tones, and a gentle natural sweetness balanced by a light, refined acidity. Unlike many black teas, it does not become harsh when brewed stronger, maintaining a silky texture and elegant finish. Multiple infusions reveal new layers, similar to high-quality oolongs.
This tea offers a naturally rich and grounding experience, supporting focus, providing steady energy, and creating a sense of warmth and depth - ideal for both focused moments and slow, mindful tea sessions.
